Artist Statement
My medium of choice in my artistic endeavors is film, and I hope to someday become a director. The first exposure I had to the art of film making was in my high school Film class. We had to create a music video for a song of our choosing (I chose Time To Pretend - MGMT, in case you were wondering). As soon as I started brainstorming for possible story lines I can create and shoot, I knew that film was something I wanted to do. The experience of filming and editing and eventually having a finished product of completely your own making was like none I've ever had. Once that first project was finished, my itch for a creative outlet in film began, and it's an itch that is definitely very satisfying to scratch.
One of the main goals I have as an artist is to create art that is as realistic as possible, while still entertaining. I intend to find out just how much of someone's life you can sell back to them before they realize that all they're seeing on screen is themselves. I would say that my inspiration comes from, as most would guess, shows like "Friends" and "Seinfeld". Through work like this, I hope to encourage the public to see that every person has a unique and interesting story, and maybe get them out of their own heads and into thinking what it's like to lead the lives of others. Hopefully this will lead to a more unified, considerate, and understanding general public. In short, I hope to bring about the second coming of the Hippie age.
